Iris Cafe - avocado toast!

My Brooklyn friend recommended this place for breakfast when we were staying at her apartment in Carroll Gardens.

Walking down Columbia Place you might easily miss this hole in the wall.

There is nothing remarkable about the decor of the Iris Cafe, but you feel a bit like you've gone back in time to say the early 1900s. No laptops allowed! The sunlight streaming in from behind the kitchen might be the secret to the very pleasant atmosphere. Maybe its the lack of color...just wood and earth tones and white tile.

But man they make a mean avocado toast!

The New York Times gives it favorable reviews and explains a bit about the owner, the food and the location.

NY Restaurants also gives it a "Critics Pick Award"

and it won Best Cafe 2010
